World Maps, a New AI Story Creator and Game Rule Lore Cards

This update brings world maps to TalesRPG adventures, a new AI story creator that builds a full adventure from one prompt, and a Lore Card type for your own game rules.

Every adventure can have its own world map

World maps for your adventures

You can open the map at any point in a story and travel to another region by road, river or sea route, or by hyperlane if the story is set in space. Regions show their danger level and points of interest. The ones you haven't explored stay hidden until you reach a neighbouring region, and an author can lock a region or route until something happens in the story.

Each region is also a location Lore Card, which means the storyteller has the same details about a place that the map shows. Authors write two notes per region: what players read on the map, and secrets meant only for the storyteller.

To make a map, describe the world or let the studio work from your main prompt, and it generates a layout with up to 30 regions. It doesn't have to be a fantasy kingdom. A a mining colony on another planet or a single city works too. Generating and editing the layout is free. Painting it in your story's art style costs 5 to 10 credits, depending on how much regions the map has.

Subscribers can add a map to every adventure. Without a subscription you can unlock it for one story, and that unlock comes with 10 free paintings.

A new AI story creator

The story creator now opens with a single prompt. Write one sentence or several pages, or tap Surprise me if you want an idea. The AI then fills all the details - all prompts, lore cards, chapter instructions, world map and creates the story. It usually takes about a minute.

You can fill as much as you want. Sections left on Auto get filled by the AI, and anything you write yourself stays as you wrote it, even if you change the prompt and regenerate.

Game rule Lore Cards

A rule card holds one mechanic the storyteller has to follow, for example: Every spell costs 1 Mana. At 0 Mana you can still cast, but each spell drains 2 HP instead.

You give the rule up to 10 trigger words, like cast, spell or fireball. If your action contains one of them, the storyteller gets the rule for that turn. There is also a short "When it applies" line the storyteller sees every turn, so it can pick the rule up when the situation fits even if you never typed a trigger word.

Rules written into a long main prompt tend to get lost as a story grows. A rule card is only sent when it's needed, so house rules and magic systems keep working late into a campaign. If your main prompt already has rules in it, generating Lore Cards from it can turn them into rule cards. If you haven't used Lore Cards yet, the Lore Cards update explains how they work.

Update the app from the App Store or Google Play to get all three.
