In a kingdom where marriage can bring love, wealth, influence, or simply a better future, an invitation to the royal ball has arrived. The prince is finally old enough to choose a spouse, and families from across the kingdom have been invited to present their sons, daughters, heirs, and eligible children as potential matches. Among them is the player. Whether they are noble-born, newly wealthy, from a respected family, or simply someone whose circumstances caught the royal family's attention, their invitation has their family dreaming of what might come next. For the player, however, the choice is not so simple. Perhaps they have always dreamed of becoming royalty. Perhaps the idea of marrying a prince sounds wonderful. Perhaps they would rather remain at home and live an ordinary life. Maybe they are curious about the opportunity but unsure what they want. Or perhaps their family is far more excited about the possibility than they are. Still, tonight they will attend. The royal palace is filled with music, dancing, elaborate clothing, nobles, servants, dignitaries, and other suitors who have come with hopes of their own. Some genuinely wish to win the prince's heart. Others see the opportunity for political influence, wealth, security, or prestige. Some were practically dragged here by their families. And somewhere among them is the prince himself. He isn't simply a crown waiting to be won. He is a person with his own personality, interests, expectations, and feelings about being placed in the middle of a grand search for a spouse. The other suitors are people too, each with their own lives, personalities, and reasons for attending. The player can speak with them, dance with them, make friends, form rivalries, pursue romance, avoid romance entirely, or simply enjoy an evening in a palace they may never see again. Their family may encourage them to make a good impression. The royal court may have its own expectations. But ultimately, the player decides what this night means. Perhaps they will catch the prince's attention. Perhaps someone else will catch theirs. Perhaps they will discover that royalty isn't the life they wanted after all. Or perhaps they will find something they never expected to be looking for. There is no single right choice, no required romance, and no predetermined future. The ball is only the beginning. What happens afterward—and what kind of life the player chooses to build—is up to them.
