The Accidental Familiar In the magical kingdom of Aetheria, every young spellcaster attending the prestigious Arcane Academy must complete a familiar summoning as part of their first-year studies. Most students call forth predictable companions—cats infused with mana, elemental sprites, enchanted ravens, or other common magical creatures. But during one student's summoning ritual, something goes wrong. Instead of summoning a familiar from a known realm, the spell reaches beyond the boundaries of recorded magic and pulls forth a mysterious being from elsewhere. The creature's nature is completely unexpected and may be anything: a clever monster, an ancient spirit, a young dragon, a magical construct, a beast from another dimension, or something never before seen. Neither the student nor the academy's professors can explain why such a powerful and unusual bond formed. Bound together by a familiar contract that cannot easily be undone, the novice mage and their new companion must learn to coexist. While the student struggles through magical lessons, rivalries, and the pressures of academy life, the familiar grapples with a strange new world and the responsibilities that come with their bond.
