APRIL UPDATE 2: AI Adjustments
An app and server update has just been released, bringing a number of changes to TalesRPG AI settings. The update is currently available on Android; the iOS version will follow soon.
Firstly, a custom AI server has been configured especially for TalesRPG's needs. This, in turn, opens up more room for various AI adjustments and improvements while reducing actual usage costs and allows us to use more fine-tuned models that are especially well-suited for storytelling. Over the past few weeks, various AI model configurations have been tested with the aim of finding the ones best suited for the TalesRPG use case. These are now available in AI Settings, along with the recently released DeepSeek V4 and OpenAI GPT models.
The next change is moving away from dynamic credit usage; now, a fixed amount of credits is used per story step, depending on the selected model and story length setting. The previous system - although closer to the real running AI costs - was scrapped because it was confusing for a lot of users, especially since chapter summarization often used many more LLM tokens. Credit usage for image generation has not changed.
Another change is more credits per ad. Currently, it ranges from 4 to 6 credits depending on the user's location. Unfortunately, some locations are still getting 1 credit per ad, as advertisers in these locations provide essentially no profit for serving ads. In addition users now get a small amount free daily credits, with credit streaks for daily logins.
